Weekly Update Optimist chair Miles Richardson Reports.... Jan. 7th Bingo - Huge Success @ The Hideaway Optimist bingo chair Miles Richardson reports the Saturday, January 7th event was another huge success. Richardson said "it was a great way to kick-off the New Year with 216 happy patrons in attendance for our first 2006 fundraiser. The banner crowd was one of the largest since November 2005. "Our Optimist volunteers and the partnership group members in performed yeoman service" remarked Optimist Miles after reviewing the evening. Optimist in attendance included Susan Machnik (paymaster & shutter), Marg Ross & Carol Sargent tray 2 and floor sales while club president Jim Shaw worked a half of shift in the back room as he is slowly recovers from knee replacement surgery completed in early December. Representing our partnership groups the St. Peter's South Oshawa Food Bank were Rosemary & Donald Doucett . This hubby-wife pairing where super working tray-one for the first time - followed by Floor Sales after a brief hurry-up training session by chairman Miles. Ditto accolades for the Oshawa Wado-Karate Club combo Kim Monro and head instructor Jose Carlos-Garcia jointly doing superb duties working their initial bingo handling tray 3 and floor sales. The Council for Exceptional Children representive Claudette Stokes looked like a veteran - working the backroom and shutter board for the first time ever. Friends of the Optimist Club included other important helpers - teenager Renata Shaw and Tim Pilkey who shared duties at the Toonie $2.00 jackpot tray Scheduled Optimist workers Shirley Van Nort & Don Webb couldn't appear due to work commitments. It was a great night and everyone should take credit for a job well done. Attention Volunteer Bingo Workers For Sat.
